Confession…..
I never watched the original Sex and the City. Several reasons, the main one being that when they were originally, on, I didn’t have HBO. Heck, we barely had cable. The second reason was that I was a twenty-six-year-old mom with a four-year-old, in the middle of Central Louisiana, far from the bright lights of New York City. Heck, I couldn’t relate to that life, or even really imagine what that life might be like. I had barely been out of Louisiana, and even at that point, had only been to San Diego. Don’t get me wrong, over the years I could have watched it as it was released on…

Happy New Year I’ve been knitting!
Happy New Year! I know we say this every year, but I can’t believe that the last year flew by. I had lots of personal changes, all good in 2022, which is definitely an improvement from the previous three years. I’ve also picked up my knitting needles again, and knitted this lovely wrap for my mother-in-law. When she was here in May for my master’s graduation, I offered to knit her a wrap. Over the years, I have knit her several things, and the last wrap that I made her, became moth food. She was so upset! I had her pick out some yarn from my stash, and she chose…

Weekending
Last week was Homecoming Week at work, which was a sad state of affairs given all the measures that we have had to use this year in order to be able to even be in school. One thing that has remained constant are the War Drums that are played from 7:30 am until kickoff at 7:30 pm on Friday. With Covid-19 protocols in place, Homecoming Week was a sad state of affairs. With only a third of the students on campus due to e-learning, Hybrid pans and five day a week plans, there just wasn’t the same spark. No face painting, no pep rally, no dance, it was nearly disheartening. We…

Tis the season! It’s that time of year when both Blogmas and Vlogmas start popping up in feeds all over the internet. It’s been years since I’ve participated and frankly, the thought of 25 days of holiday blogging is daunting. One, because I’m not one to overdo Christmas anything and two, well, it’s a lot of content and since I have posted exactly once this year, the odds are NOT in my favor. So, why may you asked, changed my mind? Well, I’m not sure exactly. A combo of a lot of things I suppose. Life is too short to say ‘what if’ and “I should have.” I loved blogging.…

People (and things) I miss. Blogtober Day 21
Way back in 2004, this blog started out as a knitting blog and as a way to keep my family back in Louisiana and Georgia updated. I started out on Blogger, then moved to Typepad, and then finally to a hosted website. I’ve got versions of this blog saved on my server, but some content was lost in the migration from Typepad years ago. Actually, I should see if my Typepad account is still active..or even if they still exist. Anyway, it was through Hurricane Knitters (do they still exist?) on the internet that I met up with who would turn out to be my first friends in Florida, Linda…

A Night with Amy Tangerine
Let’s get this out of the way. I am a MAJOR fan of Amy Tan of Amy Tangerine fame. I love her spirit, her quirkiness and her ability to make me want to get out of my rut and craft something. When I heard that she was going to be at Whim So Doodle in St. Pete, I jumped on the phone and made a reservation for her Scripting with Watercolor class. I had missed her last year when she was in town, and I wasn’t going to miss her this time. I have been watching Amy write with watercolors and a waterbrush for a while now and I was…

We’ll see how this goes.
Twelve years ago, this blog started out as a knitting blog. Over the years I’ve developed other hobbies, but I’ve continued to knit. I also went through a phase where I listened to podcasts, then I stopped, but within the last year started up again. One of the reasons is because I got a new car that has the ability to stream audio from my phone, and as radio gets boring on the commute to work, I started listening to various podcasts again. I’ve mainly listened to knitting podcasts, and that has jump started my knitting. One of the podcasts I listen to is The Knitmore Girls. One of the…

Daily Life
For the last year or so, I have had and on and off love affair with my Midori notebooks. Some months, I am pretty good about journaling in them, and then others, well, not so much. This year, one of my goals has been to print and preserve photos. Well, I’ve managed to print a TON of photos, but putting them in a photo album or in a journal, well, that leaves a lot to be desired. Last week, I wanted to journal last Sunday, so I sat down and did it. IT took a little of work beacuse most of my scrapbook stuff is still in boxes from the…
