Weekending
Last week was Homecoming Week at work, which was a sad state of affairs given all the measures that we have had to use this year in order to be able to even be in school. One thing that has remained constant are the War Drums that are played from 7:30 am until kickoff at 7:30 pm on Friday. With Covid-19 protocols in place, Homecoming Week was a sad state of affairs. With only a third of the students on campus due to e-learning, Hybrid pans and five day a week plans, there just wasn’t the same spark. No face painting, no pep rally, no dance, it was nearly disheartening. We…

Flu Season
Now more than ever it is important to get your annual flu shot. CVS (and other places) offer free flu shots and often gives you a shopping reward. Publix gives you a $10 gift card with your flu shot. I was in and out in less than 20 minute. I was picking up a prescription anyway so I just got mine while I was there anyway.

Rainy Saturday.
It was a rainy Saturday here in Florida, the results of a tropical depression on the other side of the Gulf. With all the craziness going on I think we have forgotten that we are still in the middle of hurricane season. Idunn kept me company while I worked on an assignment that I have due on Monday. It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow and most of the week. The upside is that it should be cooler.

Hello October
It’s October, and in most of the US it means fall leaves, cozy sweaters, cute boots, hand knit scarves and mugs of steaming hot chocolate. In Florida it means……nothing. NOTHING! Which makes me sad. However the first day of October decided to put on a show.

Blogtober Recap and NaBloPoMo?
Well, October came and went…quickly. It was a crazy month for me with my very first ever trip to Washington DC. I still need to put up the second post of that trip! While I didn’t blog every day like I had intended, I did blog more than I have in years. I found that I missed it and it was such a creative release for me. I think it was the jump start that I needed to get back on the regular posting that I used to it. And that brings me to National Blog Posting Month or NaBloPoMo. I don’t know if it is still a thing, but…

People (and things) I miss. Blogtober Day 21
Way back in 2004, this blog started out as a knitting blog and as a way to keep my family back in Louisiana and Georgia updated. I started out on Blogger, then moved to Typepad, and then finally to a hosted website. I’ve got versions of this blog saved on my server, but some content was lost in the migration from Typepad years ago. Actually, I should see if my Typepad account is still active..or even if they still exist. Anyway, it was through Hurricane Knitters (do they still exist?) on the internet that I met up with who would turn out to be my first friends in Florida, Linda…

Well, that was unintended (Blogtober Days 13-18)
I did not mean to take nearly a week off, but after last weekend’s whirlwind trip to Washington DC and getting back to work, it just threw me off. Now that I have had some time to decompress and think about my trip, I have all sorts of thoughts. The one thing that I wanted to do was to see the National Archives. I wanted to see the Decvlaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. (Ok, so I wanted to pretend that I was in the middle of National Treasure…lol). I got off the flight, shuttled to the Gaylord National, checked in and was in an Uber…

So much to say and I don’t know where to start (Blogtober Day 12)
Lots of thoughts to come.

Hurricane Michael, (Blogtober Day 10)
Please keep the Panhandle in your thoughts. Hurricane Michael came ashore today at nearly a Category 5 and I’m afraid that daylight is going to reveal a horrific sight. Panama City was a favorite vacation spot when my friends and I were kids, and I fear that the area won’t be the same for a long, long time.
