NO Pictures :(

Well, my camera is acting up, so no pictures today. My hubby and I hosted a Lord of the Rings Trilogy viewing on Tuesday. I think I was insane when I agreed to it. We started it at 10am and finished it around 10:30. We had two other couples over and had a wonderful time. LOTR is not my cup of tea…especially in 12 hour doses, but it was so much fun getting together with everyone.

I had Kelly and Logan pick out something for their new baby for me to knit. They chose a cardigan pattern out of the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits for Beginners book. I’m going to make it bigger so Roark can wear it next year. He is to be born in March, so I don’t know how much use he will be able to get out of it before it gets too warm here in Florida.

I also started on the Alien Illusion Scarf from the Stitch and Bitch book for my husband. I’m knitting it out of Cascade 220. It’s slow going as I’ve never knitted from a chart before, but it’s coming along great.

It’s a rainy warm day here….defiantly not Christmas-ish. But we are traveling to Atlanta next week, so we’ll have some cooler weather while there.

If you get a chance, look to the left and click on the Guestmap and please leave a pin where you are located. I love seeing where people are from.

Thanks ya’ll and have a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

Two FOs

Picture_065_1  Picture_067_1                   This is MINE, ALL MINE. :)   It’s knit with discontinued Berroco Glace’ colors that I bought over the summer. I didn’t know what I was going to do with it at the time, but I saw this pattern for an Opera Scarf and just thought that it would be perfect for this yarn.  It drapes beautifully and I just love it.

Picture This is a gift for a friend of mine and this was knit out of one skein of Paton’s Divine in Ice Blue and about half a skein of Lion Brand Jamie baby in white. I held two strands together in a simple stockinette stitch. The tassels are just awesome and I think make the scarf. I knit it in two evenings while watching television. I loved the way it turned out and my daughter thinks I should make a whole blanket out of it.

Hubby is home from Portland, but alas, I couldn’t talk him into going to any yarn shops for me. Oh well, maybe next trip.  I am supposed to see a client that a fellow Realtor pawned off on me and when I called him, he was the rudest most full of himself person. Keep in mind that I was handed this as I was in the Tampa airport waiting to pick up Joel. I got home, called him and he proceeded to chew me out because my friend never called him. Apparently he was two hours late in calling her to set up appointments and by that time she had other appointments to get to. Soooo….I get the earful. Hopefully, I put him in his place by telling him that he had no right to take it out on me if he got his wires crossed or failed to call in on time. Tomorrow should be interesting. If he wasn’t a serious buyer, I’d tell him to go jump in a lake….or the Gulf. I hate it when people act likeI have nothing better to do than drop everything I have planned  because THEY screwed up.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

At least Picture_063it’s cooler, so I don’t feel like such a grinch anymore. Look what showed up in front of my house….Christmas carolers!  Amanda was so thrilled, she came running in telling me to come see. I had dinner on the stove, so I got to snap a couple of quick pictures before dinner burned…lol.  Hubby is off to Portland, Oregon…no go on the visit to the yarn stores there. At least I tried. OOH, more pictures later. I finished the Glace’ scarf that I have been knitting on forever.

We’re such wimps

I admit it, I’m a wimp. We live in Florida and the weather has gotten cold. Cold as in 50-ish degrees. Yes I know, ya’ll that live up north are sitting there with layers and layers and mittens saying "She has no FREAKING idea what cold is!" And you’re right. I have no idea. I grew up in Louisiana where we had pretty mild winters, we had the occasional ice storm that melted by the next day. Here, no ice, but I swear my blood has thinned in the almost three years that we’ve been here. It’s hilarious to see the snowbirds…Northeners who winter here….laugh at the rest of us when we pull out long sleeves and sweaters when the Highs barely hit 60.  On the other hand, I was in Target yesterday and they already had bathing suits on display. I have a feeling that Christmas day will be spent wearing shorts and tshirts. :(   Go ahead, laugh all you want. I know you want to.

Life in Florida….gotta love it.

A Little Late…but better than Never

Picture_059 So I finished Booga 2. I took it to church today and got a lot of compliments on it. I really like it and it definatly won’t be the last one I do. I have fallen in love with this yarn, it was a dream to work with and I think I might make a hat out of it next. I think I might need one more skein of it though.  I have also started and frogged the Clapotis. Not to fear…I hadn’t gotten that far on it. Picture_048 I will cast on again this afternoon.

This is Mercury. my Italian Greyhound modeling the Hermione Hat. He’s such a sweet dog, but he has one little "issue". If I put a doggie sweater on him, he acts like he is paralyzed. I can put a treat in front of his nose and he won’t move. It’s hilarious actually. He wasn’t quite sure about the hat, but he was a good sport.  Let’s see, what do I have up next….Clapotis, of course, and various baby socks for a friend of mine. OH, and our Christmas tree STILL doesn’t have ornaments on it. It’s pathetic. Maybe this afternoon well get it done. My husband is headed to Portland Oregon later in the week…anyone know of any good yarn shops that I can send him too?? LOL….what do you think the odds are of him actually going?

Guess What this is!

Picture_013 It’s KPPPM  color 118A.  I plan on making the Clapotis from the awesome Kate Gilbert. If anyone knows how this will knit up, please either post a comment or email me. I love these colors. I wasn’t in a Pink or pastel mood, so I went with some darker jewel colors. This will be my first use of Koigu and I think it is just yummy. Hey, if all else fails It’ll be a great pair of socks. LOL

My baby doesn’t believe in Santa

My ten year old has decided that she doensn’t believe in Santa anymore. I knew something was up when she didn’t send her letter this year. In years past, she could hardly wait to get to the mailbox to mail the letter. First it was the tooth fairy and now Santa. I think I’m going to hide under my yarn stash until she reverts to being a five year old. I knew it was just a matter of time, but still. :( I guess I still wanted her to stay a little girl forever. I should have know that wasn’t going to happen when a BOY was in the driveway talking to her this afternoon.    Life goes on. :)

Booga Bag 2

Picture_005 This is mine…all MINE!! I think it looks like a sunset out at Lido Key. I just love the colors. This one is the Noro Kureyon in  color #102. I also love how this is knitting up. The yarn is just yummy. I’m waiting….impatiently….for my Koigu from Patternworks to show up. I’ve never ordered anything from Patternworks so I’m not sure how long they will take to ship.

My pride and joy

Img_1368 Can you tell that I’m a proud mama?  :)   She can even knit. I’ve taught her how and sometimes she picks up the needles and knits a bit. I hope she keeps it up, or at least remembers how to do it. Well, it’s off to school. Most and a picture of the latest scarf in a little while.
